In a nod to both history and innovation, the Peterson Space Force Base has breathed new life into a relic from the past.

The newly revamped Broadmoor Hangar, once a hub for private jets flying guests to the iconic Broadmoor hotel, now stands as a beacon for the future of space defense.

This transformation is not just a facelift; it’s a metamorphosis that marries the nostalgia of a 1930s-era hangar with the cutting-edge demands of 21st-century space warfare.

On a crisp Friday afternoon, Col. Phoenix Hauser, the visionary commander of Space Force Delta 7, unveiled the $3.55 million remodel to an eager audience.

The event was not just a ceremony; it was a declaration of intent.

“This is the first step in a multiyear, multi-squadron campaign,” Hauser proclaimed, emphasizing that the new space is befitting for what she called the “most technologically sophisticated fighting force this world has ever seen.”

The transformation of the hangar is not only a significant milestone for Delta 7 but also a crucial component in the broader strategic chess game being played out in space.

With China’s aggressive expansion, having launched over 200 satellites in 2023 alone, the importance of the Space Force’s mission has never been clearer.

Hauser, who brings firsthand experience from her time stationed in China, underscored the critical role of deterrence in maintaining peace.

“China is already sparring with the U.S. in space,” she noted, making the work of Delta 7 essential in averting potential conflicts.

Inside the remodeled hangar, the atmosphere buzzes with the energy of innovation.

Members of the 75th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Squadron, ominously nicknamed “the wolves,” now have a permanent home for their high-stakes work in target analysis and engagement.

Their mission is nothing short of vital—providing the intelligence needed to complete long-range kill chains.

“Identifying a target can be the first link in the chain that ends with striking it,” Hauser explained, highlighting the gravity of their task.

But the wolves are not alone in this endeavor.

They temporarily share the space with the 74th Squadron, who focus on threat analysis and intelligence production.

Meanwhile, the 72nd Squadron utilizes the expansive new classroom and open room to hone their craft, setting up satellite dishes and antennae—practical skills they will employ in the field to decipher the capabilities of foreign adversaries.

As the echo of past flights fades into history, the remodeled Broadmoor Hangar has become a crucible for crafting the future.

“This is where we are going to build the next generation,” Hauser declared, her words reverberating through the hangar like a rallying cry.

The legacy of this historic building continues, now as a cornerstone of American space strategy in an increasingly contested domain.

The hangar may still bear the charm of its bygone era, but its heart beats resolutely for the future.
