As the landscape of cryptocurrency continues to evolve in India, one name is steadily rising to the forefront—Sumit Gupta, Co-Founder of CoinDCX.

With India’s crypto market booming and poised to surpass 900 million internet users by 2025, Gupta is not just witnessing this transformation; he is actively shaping it.

His vision for the future of Web3 in India is ambitious and grounded in the fundamental principle of trust.

CoinDCX has become synonymous with crypto trading in India, commanding over 80% of the country’s trading volume and catering to a staggering 1.9 crore investors.

This impressive feat has positioned CoinDCX as India’s largest crypto exchange and the first to register with the Financial Intelligence Unit of India (FIU-IND).

Gupta’s approach has been multifaceted, focusing on user security, compliance, and education—all crucial pillars for fostering a robust crypto ecosystem.

In an exclusive interview, Gupta articulated the company’s commitment to building trust through transparency.

“From day one, we’ve focused on building a product that prioritizes user security, transparency, and reliability,” he shared.

CoinDCX’s multi-layered security measures, including cutting-edge technologies like Multi-Party Computation (MPC) and 95% cold wallet storage, ensure that user assets are protected to the highest standards.

Regular audits and transparency reports further reinforce this commitment, keeping users informed about their holdings’ safety.

However, Gupta is acutely aware that the journey to mainstream adoption is not solely about technology.

“There’s still significant room for adoption—especially beyond metro cities,” he acknowledged.

CoinDCX’s strategy to bridge this gap involves making crypto accessible to all Indians, irrespective of their geographical location.

The company’s user-friendly app allows individuals to start their investment journey with as little as ₹100, dismantling one of the most significant barriers to entry in the crypto world.

Grassroots initiatives like Namaste Web3 aim to educate and engage communities in tier 2 and 3 cities, helping to demystify blockchain technology and its real-world applications.

“Our aim is to ensure that the next wave of Web3 users from any part of India can enter the ecosystem confidently and safely,” Gupta emphasized.

This commitment to education is vital, especially in a country where misconceptions about crypto still abound.

Despite the rapid growth of India’s crypto market, Gupta recognizes the challenges posed by a fragmented regulatory environment.

“The biggest challenge today is the lack of a clear regulatory framework,” he stated.

While recent advancements in regulation, such as taxation measures and anti-money laundering mandates, signal progress, the absence of a unified framework hampers compliance efforts and creates uncertainty for users.

As India navigates these waters, Gupta is hopeful that forthcoming discussions on regulatory clarity will pave the way for sustainable growth in the Web3 sector.

“We’re now hopeful that the upcoming Discussion Paper will bring much-needed clarity, streamline compliance, and unlock the next phase of responsible, sustainable growth for Web3 in India,” he said.

Looking toward the future, Gupta is particularly excited about the potential of tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs) in India.

This innovative approach could democratize access to investment opportunities, enabling individuals from diverse backgrounds to engage in sectors previously out of reach.

“Tokenization is poised to be a game-changer for financial inclusion in India,” he remarked, envisioning scenarios where a farmer could invest in renewable energy projects or a student could gain exposure to high-growth startups through fractional ownership.

The incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) within the crypto sphere also presents a transformative opportunity.

Gupta sees AI not just as a tool for efficiency but as a strategic driver for innovation.

At CoinDCX, AI is already being employed to enhance user security, detect anomalies, and provide personalized investment recommendations, thereby enriching the trading experience for both novice and experienced users.

As CoinDCX sets its sights on expanding its influence beyond India, targeting over 30% of its revenue from the MENA region by 2026, Gupta envisions a cohesive cross-border infrastructure that upholds compliance and innovation.

“Our focus has always been to build a compliant platform and scalable infrastructure that meets global standards,” he asserted.

By blending India’s product innovation with the regulatory clarity of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Gupta aims to create a model for trust-driven growth in the Web3 space.

In a rapidly changing world, Sumit Gupta remains undeterred.

His vision for CoinDCX is not just about leading the crypto charge in India; it’s about building an inclusive and secure ecosystem where every Indian can participate confidently.

As the next wave of Web3 users prepares to enter the fold, Gupta’s commitment to transparency, education, and regulatory compliance will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the future of cryptocurrency in India and beyond.
