In a world where space innovation has become the new frontier of human ambition, Safran Defense & Space, Inc. (Safran DSI) has taken a significant leap forward with the inauguration of its advanced manufacturing and engineering hub in Parker, Colorado.

This move not only marks a milestone for Safran but also reinforces Colorado’s burgeoning reputation as a hotbed for aerospace development.

On April 11, 2025, the crisp Colorado air buzzed with excitement as Joe Bogosian, CEO of Safran DSI, and Pier Roviera, President of Space Solutions at Safran DSI, ceremoniously cut the ribbon on a 28,000-square-foot facility, setting the stage for a new era in satellite propulsion technology.

This state-of-the-art plant is poised to manufacture the EPS®X00 electric propulsion systems, serving both the U.S. Department of Defense and a host of commercial clients.

Governor Jared Polis, a vocal advocate for technological innovation, expressed his enthusiasm at the inauguration, highlighting the economic and technological ripple effects of such an investment.

“This facility not only cements our state’s leadership in aerospace but also sparks a chain reaction of economic growth and innovation,” Polis stated, underscoring the potential for collaboration and advancement that this new hub represents.

The Parker plant is more than just a manufacturing facility; it is a testament to Safran’s commitment to nurturing a sustainable and reliable supply chain for its American clientele.

With the promise of over 25 new jobs in engineering, manufacturing, and logistics, the facility is set to be a boon for local employment and expertise.

Jean-Marie Bétermier, EVP of Space at Safran Electronics & Defense, emphasized the strategic importance of this hub in strengthening Safran’s U.S. operations.

“By bolstering Safran Defense & Space, Inc., we are not only supporting U.S. space defense but are also ensuring that our commercial sectors have access to cutting-edge solutions,” Bétermier noted.

As the world hurtles toward a future where constellations of small satellites in low Earth orbit become the norm, the need for effective propulsion systems is skyrocketing.

Enter Safran’s EPS®X00 systems, which promise to deliver reliable and resilient solutions.

This is not just about keeping up with the demand; it’s about setting a new standard for what is possible in space propulsion technology.

But Safran’s ambitions don’t stop at propulsion.

The Parker facility will also serve as a hub for satellite communications and space and ground domain awareness.

With advanced CORTEX modems and a private antenna network, Safran is positioning itself as a leader in space surveillance capabilities, ensuring that its clients are always one step ahead in this rapidly evolving landscape.

In the grand scheme of things, Safran’s expansion into Colorado is more than just a business move.

It is a bold declaration that the future of aerospace is here, and it is as much about collaboration and innovation as it is about technological prowess.

As we stand on the cusp of a new space age, initiatives like this remind us that the sky is not the limit; it is just the beginning.
