Linda Conlon honored for two decades of science communication leadership

The Centre for Life chief executive receives an honorary doctorate for her work in expanding public access to scientific research and education.

Linda Conlon, the chief executive of the Centre for Life in Newcastle, has received an honorary doctor of science degree from Northumbria University. According to a statement from Northumbria University, the award acknowledges her 26-year tenure leading the regional science hub and her contributions to global science communication.

Since assuming leadership, Conlon has managed the transition of the Centre for Life from a concept on a derelict urban site into a multifaceted research and educational institution. The venue now facilitates collaboration between scientists, clinicians, and technologists while attracting approximately half a million visitors annually.
